The challenge
Anchor desk size and shape is critical. Depending on how a station shoots, the popular four-person desk configuration may need to have larger gaps between each talent. Special attention must also be paid to the placement of anchors in the frame and how this affects over-the-shoulder graphics.
The solution
A set designer must have the experience and knowledge of how sets interact with cameras and desks to achieve clean shots from multiple angles in both 16:9 and 4:3. The design process should focus on camera framing and emphasizes giving your crews flexibility and a wide variety of shots — including considerations about where to place OTS graphics.
